To whom it may concern:

My family has been involved with North County Martial Arts for at least 12 years, even before it's inception.  Both my sons have been through their programs with the youngest reaching the rank of Black Belt last Spring at the age of 11.  I have been training with NCMA for at least 2-3 years.

At various times during those years both my sons have attended the AMP program for after school supervision and martial arts training.  I found the NCMA AMP environment to be a nurturing, educational environment, fun for the boys and great physical activity after a long day in the classroom.

I would, and have, recommended the program to many friends and acquaintances without hesitation.

Best regards,
Susan Pacheco

We are delighted to write a testimonial regarding North County Martial Arts' AMP program. Our 2 girls have been training at this program for 4 years and this is their second year in the afterschool program.  We are very impressed with how quickly they are progressing through the ranks. However, the biggest success that we attribute directly to AMP, is the incredible confidence and discipline that our children have developed. In this age of increasing peer pressures, it is imperative that our children learn that it is acceptable to say no to things that they do not feel are morally or ethically correct to do. The AMP program instills this important skill into their students at a very early age and we are so thankful to have Master Jones and his team in our lives. We recommend the AMP program with our highest endorsement and would gladly answer any further questions.

When you meet people who seem to love children and have a passion for working with them, it's hard not to be skeptical. Can people really love what they do that much? Can others truly care so strongly about the welfare, self-confidence and well-being of my child? That answer, when it comes to the Joneses, is emphatically yes!

My daughter has been training with North County Martial Arts for about six months. Every time she enters the studio, she is greeted warmly and with respect. During class, the instructors are firm, but encouraging. They show the students fairness and kindness and in return they expect students to treat themselves and others similarly. There is a sense of pride when you enter the studio and that is reflected in so many aspects, including (and maybe most importantly) how the students treat themselves. The kids are taught to be strong in mind, body and convictions. This is not about fighting or battling. The training is about taking pride in oneself and having strength. I have seen it happen in my daughter, a girl who on the first day entered the studio with her shoulders hunched forward and her words mumbled. Today, she enters with her head held high and a "May I enter, Master Jones sir!" She has pride and she feels strong. For that alone I am forever in debt to Master Jones, his wife and the entire staff at NCMA.

Every once in a while, you come across a teacher or a Girl Scout leader or a piano instructor who profoundly impacts your child. When this happens, you cherish it, because these small but monumental relationships are what help guide our sons and daughters. Who can't remember that special person from their childhood who had faith in them, other than their parents? The teacher who believed in them and gave them confidence. I believe this is the impact Master Jones, his wife and amazing team of instructors could have on my daughter.

I couldn't be more grateful for what they have, and continue to install, in my child.

Dear North County Martial Arts;

On behalf of my husband and myself, we wish to say thank you. Our sons, Walker and Noah James have been training at the studio for almost two years and we are thrilled at not only their physical ability but their mental growth as well.

Our son Walker started as a shy, insecure young man and has grown into a self-assured, self-confident person. He takes pride in his Karate and the art of the discipline. He welcomes the challenges put in front of him during Karate classes and works hard to achieve he goals set before him. This newfound confidence has transferred to school and to his friendships. He has become a leader in his class and other students are looking towards Walker for assistance and attention

As for our son, Noah James, he is an all-boy. He wants to run and play and be a "goof-ball." We have found Karate to be a way of teaching Noah James discipline through physical growth. He has struggled at times in Karate, but through perseverance and the patience of his instructors, Noah James has grown to be a happy and confident Karate student.

On a side note, we find the language learning of both Korean and Chinese to be an added bonus to Karate training. Our sons have made great friends and the families at Karate have been a positive influence on our sons as well.  In these uncertain times, North County Martial Arts has been a positive constant not only for our sons but also for us as a family as well.

Thank you for all you do and for the support you give our family.

NCMA has had an amazing positive influence in our daughter's life. She is been training at NCMA for over seven years. We have seen her become more responsible, mature and independent as a result of her training at NCMA. We truly believe that the guidance and support of the instructors at NCMA has made her a more confident and determined young woman. We like to take this opportunity to thank them from the bottom of our hearts and let them know that we are forever grateful!!

With best wishes for ongoing success and growth for all of you at NCMA.

NCMA has helped my son Spencer, become strong, agile and flexible. He has confidence in his presence and learned discipline in responding to others. Taking Karte has been one of the best things he has done mentally as well as physically.

Robert Dennis, father

Having watched NCMA over the past five ( years) I have had a chance to observe many interesting aspects of teaching and learning. My focus is on those two areas, as I am in education.

First as a personal observation; watching my son, Liam go from a beginner to a motivated black belt has been a joy that is nonpareil – He has garnered not only the knowledge and skills his instructors have put forth, but the attitude. That, to my point of view, has been and is one of the cornerstones of the program- ATTITUDE- The students are given enough direction to grow at their own pace, yet the overarching aspect of the program goes beyond kicks and punches. It is about respect-: for family, for the art of Tung Su Do (sic) and for the themselves. I have watched children and adults follow the same procedural  aspects of the program, and know full well each comes away from their session with something special- that is also that ATTITUDE conveyed and practiced – the concept of being the best one can be—and how remarkable to see the classes of varying levels ( age and ability)  taught with energy and consistency—There is a praiseworthy note here too- That I have NEVER seen an instructor, “phone one in” ..that is if there is a full class or just a few, the task master stays on point and the learners are the beneficiaries—ATTITUDE!

Over the years of watching, I have seen some rather interesting situations- some comedic and casual, but never derogatory or in any way, putting one down- Highly commendable. Finally, in the best sense of teaching and learning, I have seen Master(s) Jones both have the patience of Job and the ability to engage all comers. There have been students who have learning challenges. Some with physical limitations- Yet, rather than accentuate the  what CANNOT be done, they focus on what CAN be done. And the end result is nothing shy of spectacular
The ATTITUDE of NCMA starts at the top with Rick and Jennifer and is pervasive in all the instructors and after a short while, the students are in a good place, because of this ATTITUDE”

Kudos to all at North County Martial Arts
